Local Author Scott Gates’ Newest Release in Stores Now
RALEIGH, NC — Blue Ink Press, a small publishing company based out of Raleigh, NC, is pleased to announce that they have published a new novel, Gone, The Redeemer, by award-nominated author Scott Gates.
Gates is quickly making a real mark in the southern community of writers. Gates’ first novel, Hard Road South, was a finalist in the debut author category of the Feathered Quill Book Awards and his short fiction has been nominated for the Pushcart Prize. He’s been featured on Wiley Cash’s Open Canon Book Club and has received praise from southern authors, such as Caleb Johnson (author of Treeborne) and Megan Lucas (author of Song Birds and Stray Dogs). More recently, he was a featured author at LitFest’s Authors and Apps event with other southern writers of note.
In response to reading the novel, Heather Bell Adams (Current Piedmont Laureate and author of The Good Luck Stoneand Maranatha Road) said, "This is a fast-paced page turner imbued with a delicious sense of adventure. Turning the expected Western stereotypes on their head, Scott Gates has crafted an enduring tale shot through with poetic description and heart-pounding action."
About Gone, The Redeemer:
Thomas Sparkman wasn’t looking for trouble. He never could have imagined being on a wanted poster, let alone becoming a notorious gold robber hunted in two states.
But when Thomas sneaks off the Cuban front of the Spanish-American War with his sights set on returning home to California, where his wife is expecting their first child, his path takes a series of unexpected turns. He's joined on his journey by a mysterious mercenary, a runaway circus sideshow performer, and an Apache guide and her infant son.
As the group traverses the American West, they cross paths with rogues, loners, and hired guns—some searching for their own form of redemption, some working to stop Thomas and his travel companions dead in their tracks.
Thomas must stay two steps ahead of his pursuers, outwitting them at every turn, or he may never see home again.
About Author Scott Gates:
When not writing, Scott is the senior editor at Carolina Country Magazine. He currently lives near Raleigh, North Carolina, with his wife, Kelly, and their three children. He and his brother share perspectives on Southern culture at incidentalist.com.
